The Heritage precinct where the house is located has presented a number of restrictions and at the same time has offered unique opportunities to transform this old house into contemporary living space without sacrificing the original bulk and scale. It is not just the finishes or the equipment that make this house elegant and fashionable.

The outcome, from transforming a double unit dwelling into a single home, is that of an apartment-like open space with high ceiling, much improved day lighting and ventilation, with the benefits of ground floor living. The suburban fabric is quite dense, but its location offers a village-like accessibility to many amenities. Whilst the restoration is faithful to the Queen Ann style of the early 1900s, the interior, with a mix of renovated and current design trends, feels totally current and fresh.
